my sad sad story.....

I got a package from the post office Monday, my dolls back from a show I recently did.
I was excited to see my little critters and welcome them back.
To my horror when I got the box from the front porch I saw the first indication that something may be wrong. A huge Dent in the side of the box, looked like they played soccer with it before bringing it to my house.
well it just got worse and worse.
I opened up the box hoping that the yucky feeling in my belly was wrong only for it to be confirmed upon opening. The dolls were free floating in shredded paper and those popcorn things. Free floating. Along their traveling home they just kept banging into each other.
Three out of four of the dolls in the box has suffered damage.
mostly ears missing and horns along with some dolls no longer in the same condition as when I sent them. They were insured and I am going to file, but from the research I have done I most likely will not get the claim. Hopefully I will be wrong. I am trying to figure out how to fix them.
I have some ideas but right now I am going to hold off on doing any surgery.

all of them were sent back in this little tiny box.

Oh, no! I hope you wrote to whoever packed them and let them know! How horrible!

So sorry to hear of the damage and hope you do get some compensation. I agree with mrsb...let whoever packed them know what happened.

thanks guys. I did contact them, they were...helpful in providing necessary info for claim...but not apologetic.
I guess they did not see it as their fault.

Since they were so careless with your dolls they were most likely as careless with other people's dolls too. Perhaps when people don't ruturn to their show next time they will get it.
So sorry this happened, I see how much work and love goes into making your dolls.

Oh my gosh - that's really horrible. I know that feeling you're talking about when you opened the box. The show - or whoever packed your items - should be responisble for this and the fact that they didn't even offer an apology is sickening. I hope you can mend the little darlings! Good luck!

Oh no, Nicole, I can totally empathize with you! This happened to me 3 times this year! So far I have received 2 of the 3 claims, so there is hope for you in getting paid. There is nothing worse than seeing a damaged box with your dolls inside, or opening it and seeing that they were poorly packed by those sending them.

Make sure you follow up on your claims. What a bummer!

Personally, I find that in excusable for a show or gallery to treat an artists work that way. I would certainly not do that show again. How rude, I hope you get at least something for your claim and you can mend your little guys.

Nicole,

Nicole, I'm so sorry this happened to you. I stopped sending pieces to shows several years ago for this same reason. 80% of the show organizers, either did not know how to pack, or just didn't care.

It's heartbreaking.

I am so sorry, Nicole ... I'm pretty sure I would have thrown up when I saw the poor fractured dolls ... will keep my fingers crossed that you do get your claim (not that it helps all that much, but at least it's something).

I am sorry your creations were not packed more intelligently and respectfully. I think you should tell the people responsible "exactly" how their packing was not acceptable, otherwise they will continue to do such shoddy packing jobs and you must demand that you be reimbursed!-Tecu'Mish
